Welcome to the year 2024! As we usher in another year full of promise and new opportunities, we are excited to share our goals for our Program. Open Gate International aims to develop a culinary arts program for incarcerated youth between 16 and 24. By providing these youth with the skills and knowledge they need to pursue a career in the culinary arts, we hope to impact their lives and society positively.
Our Program's Goals
Our goals for the Culinary Arts Program for Incarcerated Youth are multi-faceted, each aiming to address different aspects of the challenges faced by these young individuals. Here are our primary objectives:
GOAL #1 Provide Career Skills and Knowledge
The core aim of our Program is to equip youth with the skills and knowledge they need to pursue a career in the culinary arts. Doing so opens up a world of opportunities for them, thus providing a viable pathway to a successful future.
GOAL #2 Reduce Recidivism Rates
Another significant goal of our Program is to reduce recidivism rates. By providing these youth with a sense of purpose and accomplishment, we believe they will be less likely to re-offend and more likely to lead a productive life post-incarceration.
GOAL #3 Promote Healthy Eating Habits and Nutrition Education
We aim to promote healthy eating habits and nutrition education. Understanding the importance of good nutrition and how to prepare healthy meals is a valuable life skill that will benefit them long after they leave the Program.
GOAL #4 Foster Teamwork, Life, and Communication Skills
In addition to culinary skills, our Program also seeks to foster teamwork, life skills, and communication skills. These are crucial abilities that will aid them personally and professionally.
GOAL #5 Improve Self-Esteem and Confidence
Our Program is designed to boost self-esteem and confidence. By mastering a skill and gaining recognition for their accomplishments, these youth can rebuild their self-worth and confidence, which are vital for reintegration into society.
